Biochemistry and Microbiology
Presently, my lab focuses on understanding the cross talk between microbes and the gut environment in relation to human health. In particular we are looking at the interactions between phytochemicals and probiotic bacteria and their influence on colon health. My team also works on nanobiotechnology based approaches to develop biosensing (aptamers, enzymes, antibodies, affimers etc.) methods to detect food contaminants, foodborne pathogens and microbial toxins for ensuring food safety.
